STUDENTS

Auto
  • Most likely, the first experience anyone has with insurance begins when they first get their drivers license.  At that moment, it seems like a necessary evil, because it tends to be more expensive when you’re young.  It’s very important to maximize what discounts are available to you at this stage, including driver’s education and good student discounts.  Most will start out on their parents policy, but must get their own policy as they begin to live on their own.
Home
  • While most teenagers don’t think of homeowners insurance, it’s an important coverage to be aware of.  Most possessions will be covered under the parents policy while living at home, or even while moving away to college.  However, it must be considered when the child is no longer living at home.  At this stage, the renter’s form of the homeowners policy is most common, although many neglect to check into this important coverage.
Life & Health
  • Once again, the most common situation will have the student covered under the family health insurance policy.  However, when that coverage is not available there becomes a need for an individual policy.  There are student major medical policies available that often help in the transition to a company sponsored health plan.  Life insurance is too often neglected at this stage.  There is no better time to purchase coverage because often times the individual’s health is good, and the more youthful the lower the premium generally will be.
